World's Fair Donuts

World's Fair Donuts is important. Bottom line.

On the corner of Shaw Blvd, this is a great stop along the way if you're hitting up the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

Things to enjoy at WFD:
  • the old couple that runs it
  • their DONUTS license plate on their car
  • the ancient cash register
  • fruit or chocolate-filled fried pie
  • reasonable prices!

Fried Pies:  In the video I'm eating a blueberry fried pie, which tastes to me a lot like a home-made toaster strudel. Less flaky, but same concept. If this was hot, it'd be perfect. I'm kind of a temperature snob about pie.

The biggest complaint against WFD I've heard and experienced is freshness. While the donuts do seem to be made fresh every day, if you get there towards closing time, you'll want a glass of milk. So if you want these donuts in their prime, go early. On the plus side, they have pretty decent hours. I suggest pulling an all nighter and going at 4:30ish.

Hours:

Mon-Fri 4 am - 6:30 pm
Sat-Sun 4 am - 3 pm
